The vineyards of Castello di Monsanto lie at an altitude 260-310 meters above sea level. The wine was aged for approximately 6 months in large oak barrels. The wine shows a beautiful nose with flavors of cherry, blackthorn, blueberry, underbrush, pepper, cinnamon, chocolate, herbs, some smoke and violets.   WS 88
